A landscape lighting system is vulnerable to the ravages of the environment. Mother Nature can prove to be quite damaging during a year of snow, rain, ice, heat, and freezing temperatures. Salt air blowing in from the Atlantic Ocean or Long Island Sound only compounds the issue. Changes in the landscape such as plant growth and normal maintenance can also contribute to the need to service your system.
At Rain Rich, we recommend regular maintenance in the spring and fall. The types of things we typically do during maintenance are:
• Repairs due to winter damage such as fallen trees, snow plows, blowers, etc.
• Clean dust and dirt from lenses
• Change bulbs where needed
• Remove debris from well fixtures. Left alone, such debris can cause excessive heat buildup and failure
• Coat gaskets and o-rings with silicone based grease to prevent drying out
• Spray lamp sockets with lithium grease
• Check for any damage to wiring due to animals
• Check transformer wiring, voltage, and amp readings
Proper maintenance and service are key components to keeping your system running at peak efficiency and preventing early failure. A service contract will extend the warranty for your system by several years and prevent costly repairs.
