Fertigation & Lawn Care

Fertigation is a thorough way to fertilize by automatically injecting fertilizer and other important nutrients through your current Rain Rich irrigation system. This way every time your sprinkler system is on, your plants, shrubs, and lawn are also being fertilized. The technology itself is not new, and has been tested and perfected in the agriculture and horticulture industry. Having the Rain RichTM Fertigation System is like having a full time gardener fertilizing your property every time you water, carefully feeding the entire landscape, caring for the soil and all the plant life.

As the world learns to use water more wisely and to practice these horticultural techniques, Rain RichTM technology has become a vital tool in the implementation of theses practices. Some of the many benefits include: Consistent application of fertilizer- no peaks and valleys or anemic looking plants; Inexpensive application once all the needed equipment is installed; We use non-hazardous water soluble fertilizer; Water savings 20%-50%; Reduce pesticide and herbicide use; Fertilizer reduction 70% to 90%; Uniform distribution to plants, shrubs, trees, and lawn ALL THE TIME.

Fertigation is proven to be the most effective way to feed your entire landscaping. One of the added benefits of the Rain RichTM Fertigation System is the application of mixing biostimulates with the fertilizer. Biostimulates that contain diseases suppressing microbs helping build soil structure and enhance plants ability to absorb nutrients. Biostimulates reduce water consumption by increasing soil's water holding capacity. More importantly, they lower your overall maintenance costs and you will see a payback of this investment in 1 to 2 years.

Other Rain RichTM services include the following but are not limited to: Sprinkler system installation, maintenance plans throughout the year, customized service agreements, seasonal startup and winterizing programs, system inspections, audits and evaluations, system modifications and overhauls, component part repairs and replacements, backflow testing and repair, new well installation and repair, pipe and conduit installation, water filtration, water service replacement, landscape lighting system, holiday lighting and the brand new Rain RichTM Fertigation System.

Gardening Tips & Techniques
  1. Dig a $100 hole for a $10 plant. Good soil quality and aeration are the key to your plants success. By digging a deep enough hole, roughly about 1 1/2 inches, you are allowing the plants to spread their roots and nourish and grow. The better your soil the faster and more successful your plants will be established to grow to their potential.
  2. Watering- Give your plants an inch of water a week. This is the rule of thumb for most gardens plants, especially during the first years in a new location. If you don't water enough, roots will stay near the surface, making them more pron to the heat. Remember plants in containers need more water than those in the garden. More importantly, don't just sprits, water deeply to keep those roots digging deep.
  3. Pruning- The rule of thumb for pruning is the Three D Rule. That means you can prune anytime for the following reasons: Damaged, Diseased or Dead. Pruning can be used to control size, increase density, maximize flowering, remove a hazard or to improve the health of your flowers, trees and shrubs. Spring is the ideal time to prune if you want to control the size of your plants and hedges.
  4. Mulching- Mulch your plants saves water, suppresses weeds and more importantly help to protect your plants. Mulch is important to the soil, it keeps the temperature fairly consistent during fluctuating temperatures improving the health of your plants. Mulch also prevents water loss, chokes out weeds and it reduces the time you need to spend doing your gardening chores.
Summer Maintenance - Keeping the lawn green...

The secret to having a green lawn lies in providing sufficient nutrients, practicing effective weed control, and watering your lawn. The Rain RichTM Fertigation System is the answer to all your concerns. This system releases nutrients into your lawn over time, rather than all at once, so essentially you are stretching out the feedings. As the nutrients are released, the root system of your grass enrich the soil to become stronger and healthier. This process in itself promotes weed control, depriving weed seeds a place to germinate. Effective weed control should go hand in hand with the application of lawn fertilizer. Be sure to have your soil tested for proper nutrients and ph levels.

The second step in making your lawn look its best is irrigation. Watering the lawn every other day is the rule of thumb and the best time to do this is in the early morning. Other helpful tips for your sprinkler systems are:

  • Water Rotary Zones require 40 to 60 minutes in the sun, 5 to 10 minutes in the shade
  • Spray Zones requires 10 to 20 minutes in the sun, 5 to 10 minutes in the shade
  • Drip Irrigation System requires 40 minutes in the sun, 20 minutes in the shade

To ensure your system is running at its full capacity be sure to look for any of the following:

  • Broken and or missing sprinkler heads
  • Check for proper rotation
  • Look for low pressure in operating systems. Compare zones.
  • Look for areas of little or no coverage. The spray could be blocked by overgrown shrubs, tree branches and new landscaping.
  • More importantly, call Rain Rich for service or a free evaluation of your irrigation system.
