After a long winter of dormancy on Long Island, it’s time to activate the sprinkler system and have it ready for spring and summer.

Although most sprinkler system are able to remain inactive after long periods of time the winters can be harsh on the many components that a sprinkler system is comprised of. Even after an irrigation system has been properly purged of water the forces of freeze/thaw action can break pipe, loosen fittings, and cause sprinkler heads to fail. At Rain Rich we are proactive in our approach to having your landscape look its best and stay healthy. Having your sprinkler system properly prepared for heat and dry weather is very important. Our goal in early spring is to activate your system and check for the following:

  1. Leakssprinkler
  2. Breaks
  3. Broken and missing sprinkler heads
  4. Sprinkler heads that no longer rotate
  5. Sprinkler heads that are crooked
  6. Sprinkler heads that are buried in soil or muck
  7. Solenoid valves that don’t turn on or shut off when they are supposed to
  8. Rain sensors that are broken or no longer work properly
  9. We test controllers manually to make sure system and zones comes on and off.
  10. Check all field wiring for proper connections and damage.

We feel it’s better that you know and understand the shape your system is in before the water season gets underway and that all problems are resolved ahead of time.
